In this episode of the Bronco Nation Podcast JT, Tyler and Travis take a look at the crazy week surrounding the MWC shake up. Everything from the start to finish, if by finish you mean not finished.
The guys delve into the Pre Season Rankings. All three can agree Boise State is deserving of its ranking.
Finally we take a look at the “generic” scrimmage this past week.
On a side note I sound like I am 20 feet from the mic. I major mistake on my part and I am sorry for any audio qualities. Of course Travis and Tyler sound great and I think they are the stars of the show anyway.

We Join the 2008/09 Mens Basketball Season Already In Progress
Feb 15th
I’ll admit I am not a huge fan of Basketball. Dreams of making the 7th grade Junior High team ended with the first round of cuts and I never made an attempt to play again. When Larry Bird retired from the Celtics I simply lost interest all together. As you can tell making an attempt at watching Bronco’s Mens Basketball game, well was simply not going to happen.
Fast forward to Friday February 14th, 2009. I had promised my daughter we would go to a game again this year. I had attended the Idaho State overtime thriller earlier in the year. I picked the Utah State game as simply it with out a doubt the best game left on the schedule. Of note, I did not attend the football player autograph session as to make this a Boise State Basketball only night.
The game last night was a an exciting game for players, coaches and fans. Coach Graham had a game plan tonight and Anthony Thomas was determined to win the game on his own. The Utah State crowd was small, but very loud for its size. The #17 Utah State Aggies were in Boise to take care of a WAC Championship and opened the game with its first 2 points. Contrary to Mike Prater’s babble, after the loss to Fresno State, this Bronco’s Basketball team was very motivated and responded with a 3 point basket.
They of course had 7,500 motivated fans as well. The turning point in the game was the last basket of the second half. Anthony Thomas drained a 3 point basket to give the Broncos a 27-25 lead at half and the Broncos came in the second half to seal the deal. Early in the second half Anthony Thomas hit back to back 3 point buckets extending the lead to 11 and the Broncos never looked back.
Despite the convincing 66-56 win last tonight, snapped Utah State’s 19-game winning streak, the Broncos most definitely have room for improvement shooting 23-55 from the field. Many those missed shots were within 3 feet of the basket.
The Broncos return to action this Wednesday versus the Idaho Vandals in what can be deemed as a revenge game for the Broncos who lost early this year in Moscow. The loss broke a Bronco 14 game win streak against the Vandals that dated back to February 17, 2001. Oh and let us not forget the idiotic Vandal fans behavior after rushing to the court like they had won a championship.
This upcoming game for the Broncos is very important in the chase for essentially 2nd place in the WAC and an all important first round bye in the upcoming WAC Tournament. I am calling you out Bronco Nation. Everyone from the Diehard, the bandwagon fan, the Bronco fan who thinks minor league hockey is more important than NCAA basketball, the fair weather fan (it will be warm inside I promise) and those who think they need to catch the latest episode of Lost (set the DVR). Yes Bronco Nation this men’s basketball program needs you to put your butt in the seats of Taco Bell Arena, make some noise and show this team that the Nation is just as motivated for Basketball as we are Football. No more excuses.
