Happy Trails to David Augusto
Mar 16th
It would appear David Augusto’s run as Sport Director of KTVB has ended.
Based on verified sources David Augusto will become an Artist for the State of Idaho, well that and KTVB took his mug down from its website. We all loved to poke fun at David every chance we had during his tenure as KTVB Sports Anchor. I think his career took a turn for the worse when he was given the task of promoting the Game Time Program rally flag, yes an 8 X 11 piece of paper, classic.
Its too bad our favorite blog, OBNUG, wasn’t around for this occasion, as I am sure a full day of stories would have been dedicated to the departure of one Mr. Augusto. However, I would highly recommend heading to OBNUG and doing a search for David Augusto, my favorite story was David Augusto’s Poinsettia Bowl Itinerary Revealed.
All kidding aside, its too bad when anybody loses a job. Though many despised Mr. Augusto as sports anchor, David will now have a chance to explore other career opportunity’s. Maybe he could join the WWE as a midget wrestler or dress up in the Carl’s Junior outfit (yes that was for Kevan). Ok that was not very nice, my apology to Mr. Augusto. None the less, Happy Trails David Augusto and better best luck to you in the future.
No word on KTVB’s new lead Sports Anchor, but I am putting good money down on Justin Corr, not because I have a scoop or that I like Justin, he just has a bigger title than Zack Wolken, and I think Justin fits the build of what KTVB is looking for in a lead sports anchor.
KTVB on ESPN 2 Poll
Nov 21st
So ESPN 2 will be airing the KTVB feed of this weeks Boise State game. With all the outcry I felt it was time for a poll. Bronco Nation here is your chance to let your voice be heard.
Which current or former broadcast team would you like to hear call this weeks game on ESPN? Bronco Nation is leans towards Behler and Dailey.
Bronco Fans Please Thank KTVB
Nov 18th
For the past few weeks I have received a few email complaints and read some Internet chatter of fans voicing displeasure of the KTVB broadcast of Boise State Football games.
Sure Mark Johnson isn’t the best play by play man in the world and the yes the camera work isn’t Sunday Night Football caliber. However, I for one am happy that we have television coverage at all. Imagine if KTVB wasn’t able to broadcast all these games. Most of the non-ESPN games have been blowouts and the Oregon game was an OSN production that everyone in Boise should be thankful KTVB negotiated to broadcast. The games are broadcast over the air in Digital wide-screen for free. All KTVB asks in return is you watch a few advertisements during the game and listen to Mark Johnson as he provides an entertainment that rivals all those great George W. Bush speeches these past eight plus years. So Bronco Nation please thank KTVB for all the effort that they have put forth and be thankful we are privalaged enough to see the Broncos in action each and every week.
KTRV Fox 12 a Possible New Bronco Nation Television Station?
Sep 3rd
The Broncos are off this week so Bronco Nation goes back into a holding pattern and with that comes some more free time. Watching my digital video recording of Monday’s Prison Break on Fox last night, I caught a glimpse of a commercial.
Typically I skip through commercials, after all that is why the DVR was invented, but this particular commercial caught my eye. After rewinding it a few times, just to make sure my eyes focusing correctly, it appears KTRV Fox 12 is jumping on the Bronco Media Bandwagon. The local Fox affiliate, who scored big with the Fiesta Bowl, will present a show featuring Paul J Schneider, Jeff Caves and Larry Polowski titled Inside the Broncos, the WAC and the West. With KTVB’s contract set to expire in after the 2008-09 season could this be a sign that Fox 12 may be in the running to air Bronco games locally? We all know that tabloid TV, KIVI, went beyond the extra mile in 2006 in providing analysis leading up to the Fiesta Bowl in a possible effort to show Gene and company they were willing to make a run at upcoming contract. Of course KTVB booted often criticized sports director David Augusto out of the booth in favor of Mark Johnson, in what many felt was part of an effort by KTVB to keep the lucrative Television rights to air Bronco Sports. Then there is KBCI, who previously held the rights prior to KTVB. Could the hiring of J Bates as sports director be a sign as well? Note I am not sure exactly what it is a sign of, but a sign none the less. So Bronco Nation, what do you think? Who has the best chance of winning the Television rights to air Bronco Sports after the 2008-09 season?
Conference USA Releases TV Schedule
Jul 17th
Updating an earlier post, Conference USA confirmed today that the Boise State vs Southern Miss game will be broadcast live on the CBS College Sports Network at 8:00pm Central. To date KTVB has not made mention of any negotiations to air that game locally. Based on prior issues with the MTN and College Sports TV, it doesn’t seem likely that the game will be broadcast over the air or on local cable company Cableone, but I will continue to consult my magic eight ball in the mean time. If you are Dishnetwork and DirecTV customer you are in luck and of course you can listen to the game on the “New” Bronco Nation Station, KIDO.
