Who Is Don Hutt?

For the last two weeks on the Bronco Nation Podcast, Tyler and I have been asking, who is Don Hutt? Well, a listener of the show has done some research. Austin Pettis broke Don’s all time receptions record versus the University of Hawai’i. Don also holds the record for the most career receiving touchdowns mark at 30. Currently Austin has 29 career receiving touchdowns. Another record could fall this season as the Broncos have 4 remaining games counting the bowl game.

Pre-College:

  • Birth Date 11/24/1952
  • Graduated from Borah High School in 1969

College:

  • 1971 he went for 66 catches for 928 yards and 8 TD’s
  • 1972 he went for 58 catches for 824 yards and 9 TD’s
  • 1973 he went for 63 catches for 964 yards and 13 TD’s
  • Had 11 games of 100 or more receiving yards
  • All-Big Sky from 1971-1973
  • Division II All-American in 1973
  • Played in the East-West Shrine game after his senior season.

Post College:

  • In the 1974 NFL draft he went in the 8th Round 5th pick to the Los Angeles Rams, but traded to the Hawaiians in the World Football League where he had 11 catches for 104 yards in 1974… The football league folded the next year.
