Thats Why You Play the Game
Sep 5th
When thinking of the tail of David vs. Goliath I came to the conclusion, though a greater opponent David was able to beat Goliath. Now aside from the religious aspects of the story it boils down to David got lucky. This is what happened this past Saturday as the 1-AA Montana State Bobcats upset the Big Twelve Colorado Buffaloes. The upset outside of Boise and Boulder meant little to the landscape of College Football, but made for a good laugh in Boise, ID and a huge blow to the ego of CU supporters.
All I have heard these past two days is how Dan Hawkins is now on the hot seat. Even our own Jeff Caves of KTIK argued in today’s Beatdown segment that this was the beginning of the end for Coach Hawk. That by the end of the season Hawk and his wife will have joined the Peace Corps in Africa. I just want to remind those in Boise and Boulder that Dan Hawkins lost his first game as BSU head Coach. Granted it was to a far better South Carolina team, but a loss nonetheless. Boise State fans were calling for his job at that time as well.
As a Boise State supporter I got a kick out the whole thing, but lets be realistic. Is Coach Hawk done in Boulder? Not by a long shot. You cannot judge a season off of one game. Just because BSU killed Sac State, does that mean they are destined to win it all. No! What the opening week proved was once again that on any given day the Sun may shine on the underdog and they might get lucky. So as BSU fans, lets have our laugh, because you all know that we were busting a gut at Bronco Nation. However, lets worry about BSU and never mind what anybody else is doing.
Wyoming & Utah Game Television Coverage
Aug 24th
Recently is was announced that KTVB and CSTV were unable to come to an agreement to air the Boise State vs Wyoming and Boise State vs Utah games. After looking into the situation it remains unclear as to the availability of those games on either DishNetwork or DirecTv based on the following:
Click Here To View Television Schedule
Further the mtn. states the following on its website:
The mtn., which will bring unprecedented exposure to Mountain West Conference athletics, will initially premiere on Comcast systems in Utah, Colorado and New Mexico, including expanded basic service in the Salt Lake City market, digital classic service in the Denver market and digital basic service in the Albuquerque and Colorado Springs markets.
Comcast Systems
Albuquerque, N.M. – Digital Basic Service
Colorado Springs, Colo. – Digital Basic Service
Denver, Colo. – Digital Classic Service
Salt Lake City, Utah – Expanded Basic Service
Negotiations are ongoing with satellite providers. Please contact
Dish Network at 1-888-284-7116 (existing customers) or 1-888-825-2557 (new customers) AND
DirecTV at 1-800-494-4388 (existing customers) or 1-888-238-7177 (new customers)
and request that The MountainWest Sports Network – The mtn. – be added to their channel lineup.
When new cable and satellite entities add the mtn. to their packages and programming, this page will be updated.
Further information leads me to believe that the mtn. will be a local network:
CSTV cut a deal with Comcast Cable. CSTV owns 50% of the mtn. and Comcast owns the other half. Comcast is putting the new network on basic expanded cable in Utah, so if you get ESPN now, you will get the mtn. No ordering, no installation, and no extra cash. Now Comcast is … um … negotiating … with satellite companies like Direct TV and Dish Network. Of course if the satellite companies don’t pay whatever (possibly exorbitant) price Comcast sets, they will be rewarded with a deluge of phone calls.
Those that know anything about Comcast know that there relationship with satelite providers is shaky at best. The recently had to purchase Tech TV and kill all of its programming in order to add its G4 Network to those outlets. At this point it is safe these two games may not be visable to Boise State Fans via Televsion.
