The Change to KIDO is more than just Paul J
Apr 5th
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few days KBOI has lost the rights to broadcast Boise State Athletics to KIDO.
Of course the first reaction is what does this mean in regard to Paul J Schneider the voice of the Broncos for 35 years. That story is yet to be played out and an Internet petition was set up by Drew from the Fight, Fight BSU blog. However, the fate of Paul J aside, how does this change of broadcast rights effect the other people involved in Bronco Game Day. It is safe to say that broadcasting Boise State football involves a great number of people. In addition, KBOI had set in place a series of programs revolving around game day. Some of these included the coach’s show, the pre-game show, and Bronco Game Night. Granted KIDO will hopefully make every effort to continue these traditions, but can we be sure.
In addition, KIDO promised combinations of Radio Stations that will be broadcasting the games. I really don’t care what promises they make, KIDO will never be able to match the broadcast range of KBOI unless they actually match the signal output. Though the Internet is a great way to get the broadcast, it isn’t a close enough match to what KBOI has been able to do to reach a large audience. Also are we going to have downloadable mp3 files of the games to listen to on demand?
Now I will give Boise State and KIDO the benefit of the doubt that they have all the little things worked out, but I think that what can only be termed as a monumental change in how Bronco Nation accesses the game could have been presented better, after all the reason to secure these broadcast rights it increase listener ship and sell advertising. Good luck with that KIDO.

Bronco Nation Lend Me Your Ears

Unfortunately the news is not good. After the LOI party stream I thought the sky was the limit as far as providing you the fans as much video of what is not covered, well apparently that does not mean getting permission to bring a camera into Bronco Stadium to provide coverage of the Blue & Orange game. I know that Boise State has their reasons and they are all valid, I just can’t help, but thinking that all fans deserve a little something extra for their efforts. So I hope as many of you can make it down to support the team and cheer them on. Go Broncos!
Spring Scrimage
Mar 22nd
I hurried down to the first open spring practice/scrimmage at Bronco Stadium today. There was a sizable crowd for the event. Unfortunately I was unable to provide live video for Bronco Nation. In addition, the wind made even sitting in the sun somewhat cold. The best part of today was seeing Vinny Perretta back on field and by all accounts going full speed. I have to admit I did not stay for the whole event, but I found that coverage of the event was not lacking. The Boise State Blogoshpere is growing by leaps and bounds and is making getting Boise State news that much easier. Matthew “Buck” Rogers of the Statue Left blog attempted to live blog until security began to give him the evil eye. Drew from fight, fight, BSU did a great job capturing some video and posting it to Youtube. Finally, OBNUG had another fine write up on the scrimmage. Granted between the four of us we don’t have anywhere near the resources to do what KTVB and the Idaho Statesman do, however I would say given the same playing field, you know the same access I am sure based on what I have seen we would give them a run for their money.
