An Open Letter/Email to the Oregon Sports Network
After viewing the game call of Joe Giansante’s call of the Boise State vs Oregon game this past Saturday on one of my favorite Boise State Blogs, I decided to write the powers to be at the Oregon Sports Network
To whom it may concern,
Clearly the call by your lead announcer Joe Giansante, for the Boise State vs Oregon game this past September 20th, 2008, showed how low an announcer can go. The lack of class that he showed Boise State during the broadcast was extremely disrespectful to the Boise State Players, Coaches and Fans. Clearly the fact that Oregon was losing was not the opportunity to begin bashing Boise State and their future schedule. Last I checked both teams play in the FBS. Unfortunately, Mr. Giansante clearly misunderstands this. Boise State cannot help they play in the WAC. This program works hard if not harder then most to accomplish all that it has in its short time in the FBS. The schedule that Boise State Athletic Director Gene Bleymaier works to develop is a responsible schedule, which includes non conference games against Bowling Green, Souther Miss and Oregon (the latter are both road games) in 2008.
I suggest the Mr. Giansante show a little more professionalism by calling the game more neutral. I am all for the “homer” call every now and again, but this game was pitiful display of an announcer becoming bitter as his team lost. This was a great win by Boise State. This is not a Super Bowl for Boise State as the Super Bowl is an National Football League game. Boise State played a very good Oregon Duck team on the road and excelled in every facet of the game. This is just a tiny step in the evolution of the Boise State Football program, with an indefinite amount of steps left to go. For Mr, Giansante to discount a fine performance by the young men who played this past Saturday is not only insulting to Boise State, but to the University of Oregon’s players, coaches and fans, as well as the Oregon Sports Network. In closing Saturday was a great football game and I can only hope the next years game in Boise, ID can live up to the hype that will surround it. Thank You
JT Ray
