Is Boise State and other WAC teams for sale?

Surfing the net in search of anything related to Boise State has become somewhat interesting this summer. I am not sure how I came across this, but this past year a University of Wisconsin booster offered the Fresno State Bulldogs $1.8 million to move this years home game with the Badgers from Fresno to Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The bottom line is it shows what the haves over the have-nots, but it made me think.

In 2009, Oregon and Boise State are set to play a game in Boise at Bronco Stadium, however Oregon athletic director Pat Kikenny proposed that the teams play the game in China in August 2007. I wonder what would be the price for Gene Bleymaier to make that a reality. nosellout Further, is there a booster from Oregon willing to put up the cash to make it happen. I wonder if Gene and company have what it takes to turn down millions. Imagine what a few extra million could do for the program.

In the end I applaud Fresno State for turning down such an offer. With the costs associated with running an Athletic program an extra million or two is extremely tempting. The refusal by Fresno State sends a very clear message to the haves, the top teams in the WAC have drawn the line in the sand and said it stops here. Fresno State is also signaling to the BCS schools games played in our home stadium are more important then selling out (Idaho please take notes).

At this point nothing further has come of the offer from Oregon, well at least that has been made public. I hope Gene Bleymaier and Boise State will follow the path of Fresno State and tell Oregon to plan on playing in Boise next year because Boise State is not for sale. With that said I ask Bronco Nation, is there a price for which Boise State should sell out?

The Boise State Game Ticket Lottery

Greetings Bronco Nation. After a few weeks of conducting and very unscientific poll it looks like Korey Hall, at this point is leading the way as the “Face of Boise State Football”, but with just 29 of you voting I am sure that Gallup won’t be publishing it. I will keep the poll open for a while so tell all of your friends.

In an unrelated item, this weekend many if not all season ticket holders received an interesting piece of mail about away game tickets. First was an individual game ticket application. For those interested the breakdown is as follows:

  • Southern Miss $37.00
  • San Jose State $37.00 (I hope this is just the Boise State Game Price)
  • New Mexico State $14.00 (anything to get people to attend)
  • Idaho $33.00 (are you serious?)
  • Nevada $31.00

It should be noted that the ticket office states on the form that there is a great demand for individual game orders and will be filled according to BAA priority and the date the order is received excluding the Oregon game. Oh the Oregon game is being handled a bit different.

In a separate form, any season ticket holder can submit an application for a Lottery to be held sometime after June 27, 2008. Those entering must pay for 2 tickets if selected and no more. ticket lottery Also those that are selected can pick up there tickets in Eugene, OR the day of the game with a photo ID. The total price is $112.00 and some mailing & processing of $5.00. What!  I have to pay a mailing fee for tickets that I have to pick up?

I have also heard comments that there are only 2000 tickets involved in the lottery, however in a recent post at Bronco Country an individual was told by a friend of a friend’s brother that works with the dad of a student that works part time in the Oregon ticket office that school will not be in session during the week of the BSU vs. Oregon game, which will mean a few more open seats. Bottom-line Bronco Nation, tickets for this possible historic moment in Boise State Football (yes beating a Pac-Ten team on the road will be historic) will be a rarity.

Fans may ask what are the alternatives, well according to News Channel 7’s David Augusto the BSU vs. Oregon game will be televised exclusively on KTVB 7.  When I say exclusive I mean no other channel in Boise will air the game, which means ESPN, ABC and Fox Sports passed on televising the game. It should be noted that Augusto failed to mention if KTVB is in negotiations to air the Southern Miss game.

With just under 76 days until the Idaho State game fans are getting a little more information to make game day viewing plans.  Of course based on this video from an article posted at Fight, Fight, BSU those heading to Bronco Stadium may have some worries.

The Face of Boise State Football

Greetings Bronco Nation. No I am not dead I am still alive and kicking. After 24 episodes I figured that since I have produced more episodes then any network television show this season I would take a break until August. Also have day job that requires me to take some extra college courses, so my free time is limited. However, it does not mean I haven’t been keeping up with Boise State football news.

Of course Kevan and the guys over at OBNUG have started a podcast, after some sound issues they got help from a friend, and the sound is up to par with the great content. Drew at Fight, Fight BSU has been supplying Bronco Nation with some great posts. Aaron at Statue Left has been finding some non Bronco gems, I can say die hard Bronco fans feel just like the guy stuck in the elevator for 40 something straight hours. KITK had a discussion about Blogging, but I haven’t been able to listen due to there files being unavailable for download. Note to those running the KTIK website, its not a podcast unless you have an RSS feed to deliver it.

Speaking of KTIK, I was listening to IST on the way home from work tonight and Caves asked Coach Pete who the face of Boise State was. Coach Pete decided that in the 8 years at Boise State he had to go with Korey Hall. Not that I disagree with Coach I thought I would put the question to Bronco Nation. Below is a poll, using the same parameters of Coach Pete, I came up with this list. I am sure I am missing someone so I also included the add your own answer.
